Franklin County Visitors Bureau announces the return of Summer Wine Down at Green Grove Gardens in Greencastle on Saturday, August 6. At the midpoint of the season, Summer Wine Down brings together great wine, amazing music, and a variety of vendors. Hosting again this year is Verstandig Broadcasting, which airs in Franklin County PA and Washington County MD on 104.7 WAYZ and NOW 92.1. To keep the event fresh, Verstandig invited this year’s A Cappella & Unplugged performers to join the festivities.

The 2016 line-up of PA wineries includes two Ortanna wineries, Adams County Winery and Halbrendt Vineyard & Winery, and Franklin County’s newest winery—Jan Zell Wines. Also sampling and selling PA wines are Bee Kind Winery from Clearfield, University Wine Company of State College, Red Shale Ridge Vineyards of Danville, and Juniata Valley Winery of Mifflin. All are offering a variety of reds and whites from sweet to dry. PA wines are growing in popularity, producing more than 1.5 million gallons of wine annually.

At 11 AM, A Cappella & Unplugged takes center stage with Admiral Mouse, Tonya Grissinger, Cody Wilt, Jason Sheffield, and the finals winner–Kate & Isaac. Admiral Mouse is a Greencastle-based band, covering songs from the 50s to the present with a rock-blues flavor. Grissinger, who auditioned for The Voice, performs solo with acoustic guitar; her music has a country flavor. Cody Wilt has a southern rock sound and writes original songs as does Jason Sheffield, who performs with harmonica and guitar and blends pop, rock, and alternative for an original sound. Winners of the 2016 A Cappella & Unplugged Kate & Isaac will perform their version of “Like I Am Gonna Lose You.” DJ Bizzy, known in music circles of Philadelphia, Detroit and LA, takes the stage for the 12-2 PM timeslot.  Following at 2:30 PM is Shawan and the Wonton, with a soulful, bluesy vibe.

Between wine and music, enjoy a good mix of area vendors, including Mary Kay, Lula Roc, JM Imporium, Big Fat Daddy’s BBQ, and Canal View Candle & Barrel Co. For a complete list of vendors, visit summerwinedown.com.
