Quincy Village Model Railroad Club welcomes you to a wonderful world of ever changing and ever growing model train and miniature landscape displays! – Our Club is housed in three rooms and a hallway within a former education building on the Quincy Village campus. – We currently have “O”, “G”, and “HO” gauge layouts with room for a future “N”gauge display. Most of the displays are handicap accessible and easily visible to young children via foot riser benches. – Originating in 2003 with modest space and resources, our Club continues to be self-funded and now has approximately 1,100 square feet of operating space and 20 active members. In addition, our Caboose Club assists with layout, building, artwork, publicity, outreach, event planning, and record keeping. – When you visit…In the main hallway, look straight up and see two “G” gauge trains running simultaneously around a track close to the ceiling! Scenery and people are up there too! – Walk into the large “O” gauge room that features an operational 85+ year old Lionel Blue Comet restored to nearly mint condition. Notice the animated children’s playground, a farm, gold mine, dance hall, memorial cemetery, and a working carnival. There are other interesting scenes and trains you won’t want to miss. – Take time to visit our popular “HO” gauge display in a separate 33’ x 22’ room. This layout allows trains to run on two different levels. The upper level includes an entire town with citizenry and all public services, a park with a band, a fishing pond, and even a trolley car that runs across the entire area. There is also a winter scene complete with an animated ski lift. Further along, note “Franklin University” and a very exciting soccer game in progress! – The lower level is incomplete, but now has a coal mine, a farm, granary, farm equipment sales business, a saw mill, and a planned future diorama of Quincy Village as it appeared in the early 1940”s. The two operating levels are connected through a special design feature called a “Helix.” When you visit, please ask for a demonstration of the Helix. – A traditional and well attended Holiday Open House is held each year on the last Sunday in November. In addition, our Railroad Club participates in several local events and periodically opens displays to the public and residents of our retirement
community.
