The Cumberland Valley Rail Trail is complete from downtown Shippensburg at the edge of Shippensburg University to Greenhill Road past Newville, just short of 13 miles, a 2 mile section centered in the village of Greason, and one mile starting at Allen Road in Carlisle. The trail, which is wheelchair-accessible, has a crushed limestone surface except for the first mile from Shippensburg Station to the Shippensburg Township Park and 1/2 mile at the Newville trail head which are paved.

Shippensburg Station is home to the Cumberland Valley Railroad Museum, the Conrail Museum, and the The Steam Plant Sculpture Path.

Benches are available along the trail for your rest and relaxation. A series of informational signs are also located along the trail. Six signs tell the important story of Cumberland Valley’s role in the Civil War and seven tell the important story of agricultural heritage in the Cumberland Valley. Several pieces of public sculpture are located along the trail at Shippensburg Station.
