The Chambersburg Noontime Lions Club was established in 1924, making it one of the oldest clubs in the country. Hundreds of men and women have lent their time and talents to this Lions Club to help local residents improve their quality of life. Since 1917, Lions clubs have offered people the opportunity to give something back to their communities. From involving members in projects as local as cleaning up an area park or as far-reaching as bringing sight to the world’s blind, Lions clubs have always embraced those committed to building a brighter future for their community. – Sight preservations projects constitute the main thrust of the Noontime Lions charitable work including our purchase of eyeglasses and exams for adults and children. In a year period, the Chambersburg Noontime Lions will spend thousands of dollars to assist well over one hundred persons improve their sight through eyeglass purchase. The Noontime Club also annually co-sponsors a banquet to honor the boys basketball team of Chambersburg High School. To raise funds and awareness to its activities, the Noontime Club holds a regionally-renowned Trout Derby in late Trout Derbyspring that attracts more than 1,000 participants and offers more than $20,000 in prizes.
