THE MERCERSBURG INN

405 South Main Street, Mercersburg, PA 17236
StayBed & Breakfast
0.0 0 Reviews

This magnificent bed and breakfast started out as the private estate of Harry Byron, who made his fortune in the tanning trade. In 1909, Harry and his wife, Ione, created Prospect, a 20,000-square-foot Georgian mansion on six and a half acres of terraced lawns in Mercersburg. Originally featuring 40 closets, the house proclaimed the Byrons’ status to all. Closets were taxed as rooms back then – and only the wealthiest could afford 40! Along with their three sons the Byrons lived in this home until 1953, when the house was sold and became The Mercersburg Inn. Portraits of the family hang in the Gold Room.nnMercersburg is less than an hour from Frederick Maryland, and under two hours from Washington, D.C. During your stay, notice the quality work and attention to detail throughout the elegant brick mansion. Decorative tile, oak flooring, double-curving wrought-iron balustrades, scagliola columns, and the mahogany and chestnut paneling are all original to the house.nnThe 17 rooms in the Main House and Carriage House include 4 different types of rooms ranging from standard to extravagant. All have private baths with showers, luxurious linens, and custom bath accessories. Some rooms have fireplaces and porches. There are large common rooms, a fine dining restaurant and full-service bar, game room with guest computer, pool table, TV, and more. The Inn also provides wireless Internet access. The Inn provides ski and golf discount packages, International Wine Tastings and Food Weekends, and is perfect for weddings and corporate or social events. In autumn enjoy the brilliant colors of the Tuscarora Mountains. Optional activities nearby include horseback riding, shopping, antiquing, and self-guided tours of historic sites in Franklin County. You can visit President James Buchanan’s birthplace and boyhood home. You could even go sky diving in Chambersburg!nnFor more information please phone or click on Visit Website to the left of this description. Or email: innkeeper@mercersburginn.com.

Rejuvenate and relax in one of our 17 rooms featuring a plush feather bed with 400-thread-count Egyptian-cotton linens and mounds of soft down pillows. All our accommodations are delightfully decorated with exquisite antique and reproduction furniture. Enjoy a candlelight dinner in Byron’s Dining Room featuring the signature dish, Lobster Charlotte. Sit by the fire and experience the mouthwatering Braised Lamb Shank paired with wine. The menu changes every two months.
