For a fun fall outing for the family, come to the annual Pumpkin Festival held the third Saturday in October from 11AM until 4PM, rain or shine. This festival is a joint fundraising effort to benefit Renfrew Institute and Renfrew Museum and Park, located at 1010 East Main Street in Waynesboro, Pennsylvania. The Institute’s mission is to guide the people of the Cumberland Valley region to become stewards of their natural and cultural worlds. The mission of Renfrew Museum and Park is to serve the community of Waynesboro and the surrounding region as a cultural and natural resource. The admission fee includes a delicious bowl of hot soup cooked over an open fire, bread, cider, and live music. Hot dogs, sodas, coffee, and bake sale items are sold separately. The admission fee is $8 for adults, $4 for kids ages 4-12. Children age 3 and under are free. You can also select a pumpkin (priced by size) and use the tips, tools and helpful volunteers at the carving stations to create your masterpiece jack-o-lantern. The trebuchet is ready to fling pumpkins. Participate in a friendly competition to see which one goes farthest. A horn is sounded before each toss, arousing the interest of the crowd. Stuff your own scarecrow. You can bring clothes with you or choose from the selection provided while supplies last. Take a hay ride through the beautiful farmstead fields. Other activities for children include face painting, crafting a corn necklace, pumpkin bowling, corn toss game, and photo scene set-ups. You will have a great time at PumpkinFest!
